The botanic garden on the castle’s hillside is opened from April until November and is worth to be seen. You can admire Mediterranean palm trees, olive trees and old local spices.
There are pavilions, coffeehouses, restaurants and meadows where you can get some rest. You could combine the visit to the botanic garden with a visit to the Touriseum, the museum telling the story of over 200 years of tourism in the castle.
The famous South Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner runs a mountain museum in the historical castle Sigmundskron. On exhibition there are illustrations, photos, sculptures and mountain items.
If you spend your holiday in South Tyrol the Ötzi museum is a must. It is yearly visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists from anywhere in world who want to see the over 5000 years old mummy, its original clothes as well as its equipment. In the archaeology museum you can also admire exemplars from 15.000 B.C.to Charlemagne’s period.
